What is PAN Card Form 49A?

A PAN Card Form 49A used in India to apply for a Permanent Account Number (PAN), which is essential for tax purposes which is issued by Income Tax Department of India. Indian citizens (including minors and individuals, companies, firms, etc.) who need to apply for a new PAN card can use the 49A Form. Form 49AA, in contrast, is used by foreign citizens.

Documents Required for PAN Card Form 49A (For Indian Citizens)

For Pan Card Form 49A (used by Indian citizens to apply for a PAN card), you need to submit proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of date of birth (for individuals).

How to Apply?

Online Method

  • Visit NSDL or UTIITSL
  • Select Form 49A, fill out your details online.
  • Choose submission type:
    • e-KYC (via Aadhaar & OTP)
    • Upload scanned documents
    • Send physical documents
  • Upload photo & signature (if required)
  • Pay fee: ₹93 (India address) or ₹864 (foreign address)
  • Submit form and note the 15-digit acknowledgment number.
  • Post documents (if not e-KYC) to NSDL/UTIITSL office.

Offline Method

  • Download the form through the below link and fill it out
  • Attach 2 photos, documents, and fee DD/cheque
  • Submit at nearest PAN center
